How much water should I drink?
About 8 to 10 glasses a day, and more in hot weather or if you are vomiting.
Your body needs more fluid in pregnancy. Water is best. Pale urine is a good sign that you are drinking enough; dark urine means you need more.
Drinking enough also helps with constipation, headaches and urine infections.
What you can do
- Keep a bottle of water with you
- Check the colour of your urine — pale is good
- Drink extra in hot weather or when vomiting
When to seek care
- Passing very little urine, or burning when passing urine
Burning urine with fever or back pain needs same-day treatment.
