Plain-language summary, last updated 2026-09-12. This is a summary of how the app works today, not a legal document. A full privacy policy is still to be published before Nalady is used with real patient information at scale.
If you use the pregnancy record, Nalady stores health information about you and your baby: your pregnancy dates, visits, blood pressure and other measurements, problems, medicines, scans, CTG findings, admissions, birth details, postnatal and newborn follow-up, kick counts and the symptoms you report.
If you only use health education, the questions and answers, or sign up as a provider, no pregnancy record is created for you and none is required.
Your record is private to you. A healthcare provider can only see it after you share your record code or invite them, and after the link is accepted. You can remove a provider's access, which stops any further access.
Nalady keeps an access log showing who opened your record and when, and when the AI used your own pregnancy details to answer a question.
Ask Nalady is an artificial-intelligence assistant. It gives information and support only. It is not a doctor, midwife or nurse, it does not diagnose, and its answers are not medical advice. Never use it instead of a healthcare professional, and seek urgent care if something feels wrong.
Your question is sent to an AI service used by Nalady, together with the smallest amount of context needed: whether you are pregnant, curious or a provider, roughly how many weeks pregnant you are, and — only when your question is about your own health — the titles of the active items on your problem list. Your full record is never sent. No other person's information is ever sent.
Your conversations are saved to your own account so you can come back to them. Only you can see them. We have not yet set a deletion schedule for saved conversations.
Nalady runs on hosting, database, sign-in and AI services provided by other companies, and can send SMS alerts through a messaging provider when you switch that on. Health information may pass through the database, hosting and AI services. These services are located outside South Africa, so information may be processed in other countries. Nalady does not send your health information to advertising or analytics services.
You can see and correct the information in your own record inside the app, and you can switch SMS messages off. Deleting your whole account is not yet self-service — you would need to contact the Nalady team, and clinical records may need to be kept for a period required for maternity care.
A published privacy policy, a formal retention and deletion schedule, self-service account deletion and export, and written agreements with the services listed above are still to be completed. Nalady does not claim to be certified under any privacy or health-information law.
